Routine treatment to flush out intestinal worms that are a threat to your loyal companion’s health.
Did you know that pets need deworming all throughout their lives? Even after their puppy and kitten days, they still need year-round protection from whipworms, roundworms and other harmful parasites. Plus, many of these parasites can be passed on to you and other people in your family. By protecting your pet, you are protecting everyone else around you. Deworming is a simple measure against the damaging effects of these parasites, which can be as serious as an irreversible internal organ if left untreated. The danger with parasitic worms is that in the early stages, or if your pet does not have a lot of worms, there are often little visible signs of infestation. Regular wellness checkups are key to proper treatments and diagnosis. That being said, some of the signs that you should look out for are: swollen bellies, diarrhea, stunted growth (in puppies/kittens), and visible worms in their stool. Please contact us right away if you notice any of these signs.
Deworming schedule will depend on your pet’s age, lifestyle and any pre-existing conditions they may have. Puppies and kittens are usually dewormed once every 2 weeks until they are 3-months-old. Then, they are dewormed again at 4 months, 6 months and 12-months-old. Adult dogs and cats should be dewormed about 2 times per year. More or less deworming may be needed depending on your pet’s unique lifestyle. Hunting dogs, for example, may need more treatments than their indoor counterparts.
